Maggie 2019 Brings in Over $20K in Maternity & Children Clothing Donations at Monthly 40th Ward Community Pop-Up

On July 29th at the monthly 40th Ward Community Pop-Up, the Maggie 2019 campaign brought in over $20,000 in clothing donations for children and pregnant women. Dozens of residents came to the event to drop off and swap clothes, with all remaining donations going to the nonprofits Cradles to Crayons and Proyecto Atabey. The event was co-sponsored by Leche Libre and hosted at the local business Milk Supply Breastfeeding Boutique.

“North side residents are some of the most generous people who came out to support families in need. Growing up, I frequented thrift stores to find new clothes. This particular community pop-up aimed to remove the stigma attached to a common way many people acquire usable, second-hand clothing. What may have ended up in a landfill has now ended up in the hands of a neighbor.” said Maggie O’Keefe, 40th Ward Aldermanic Candidate.

The 40th Ward Community Pop-Up is a monthly series to gather neighbors and chat about impactful ways to enact change and growth in our evolving communities.
